With a new year, out comes a new version of Apple MacBooks. Widely acclaimed as some of the best designed laptops money can buy, they are highly sought after. The main problem is that they are more expensive than the rest, therefore saving money on one is to be commended. Often at the airport you can catch a better deal and here’s where we come in, comparing the price of the Apple Macbook Pro 15 inch edition against others so you can see the saving. There may be some confusion over the exact model so to be sure this is the Macbook Pro model, with Apple part number MD103B/A, which gives you an Intel quad-core i7 processor at 2.3GHz as well as a 500GB hard disk. There is another model which has the 15 inch display in the acclaimed Retina Display format, but this is covered separately on the website:

The airport price for this model is £1387.00. How does this compare to the retailers that it price matches against?

AmazonAvailable from third-party sellers only from £1370. Amazon may get some sporadically into stock but this will be likely sold at the RRP price of £1499.00.
John Lewis:  £1,499 with free 2-year guarantee.
Comet: £1,499 with free delivery.

Verdict: Clearly, there is a decent saving to be had on this model of laptop – the discount is over £100 when considering against the RRP. Of course, you’ll have to weigh up the downsides, which is taking the item with you in its packaging on holiday and also having to be within the weight limit for the airline you are travelling with. Some airports allow you to collect purchases on return but it’s always best to check in advance if you are wanting to do this.
