Today, we’re looking a look at the new Apple MacBook Pro computers in the 15 inch version. These new 2012 versions also optionally come with the Retina Display which allows users to gain clarity of work that hasn’t been seen before. This also comes at a cost, so it’s no wonder that users are searching around the cheapest price. Traditionally even after the abolition of duty-free the airport has routinely come under the normal RRP for these products and as such as saving can be had. Our job here is to show you the types of savings that can be made so you can decide for yourself whether to buy or not. Dixons Travel, which operate at the airport also price match against Amazon, John Lewis and Comet for the best prices.

Apple MacBook Pro 15 512GB Retina Display Price Comparison:

It’s very important to compare the same versions of MacBook Pro for the best price comparison, but as this is the top end model it is likely to cause no confusion. This June 2012 release is the bigger brother of the only other Retina Display model at present and comes with a 512GB flash drive and a faster i7 2.7Ghz quad-core processor. The airport price for this model is £2189.00. Here’s how it compares against the rest:

Amazon: £2,239.94 including delivery.
John Lewis: £2299 including 2 year guarantee.
Comet: £2299 including free delivery.

Verdict:  The airport wins on price here by over £100 on the RRP. Amazon have a good price too, but this is highly variable and can change at any given minute. Therefore you’ll save money but do weigh this up against the inconveniences of having to keep this as hand-luggage (taking care not to go over the weight limit). The item is likely to be highly in demand, so it is best to ring ahead of your flight and reserve it, with some of the larger airports allowing you to collect purchases on the inbound leg.
